There is nothing much you can do with Windows stock tools. Although they offer some degree of flexibility, third party tools are much more reliable. If you need to organize a large number of files in different folders, a standard explorer window can not help you much. With AB Commander's dual panel interface and the variety of tools it provides, you can manage your data with greater efficiency.

If you want to try it out, a 30-day trial version is available and you can use it without any restrictions. The setup package is almost 4 Mb, which should not be a challenge for any type of Internet connection. Although you will need to be connected to the Internet in order to install the software, the process is straightforward and fast.

AB Commander has a very familiar design. The interface looks like other similar software, like Total Commander, but with up to date graphics. After a few minutes of navigating and moving files from one place to another, you will feel like you are working in Windows Explorer. The dual panel view lets you copy or move data faster, without needing to fill your desktop with different windows. It is also possible to create navigation tabs on each panel, which makes it possible to work with a great number of folders at once. Many actions you would perform in a Windows Explorer can be performed in AB Commander as well. You can select multiple files or folders by drawing a rectangle over them, click and drag them, even the context menus will be the same.

Besides simply copying, moving or deleting functions, you can find other useful ones on the toolbar. Folders can be synchronized, without the need to navigate a complex options window. If you select a folder's contents in one of the panels and click the Synchronized button, a small window will appear where you can choose to copy the newer files from the active folder to the passive one, delete orphan files and more. These only require clicking on check boxes and, when you are done, the folders will be synchronized, according to your settings. It is also possible to split or merge files, compare folders, stamp files with a certain time and date, open a DOS command prompt window and more. You can find these options either on the toolbar or in the top menus.

Pros

AB Commander features an interface which always works for managing files and folders. It has an up to date design, which makes it very comfortable to use.

Cons

There are not many customization options available. Your work will be more efficient with AB Commander. The interface's familiar design will make you feel like you are still working in Windows Explorer.
